What is open.mp and how is it different from SA-MP?

open.mp (open multiplayer) is the modern, open-source continuation of SA-MP. It runs existing SA-MP gamemodes and filterscripts as they are, adds config.json with far more settings than server.cfg, and is actively maintained.

What port does an open.mp server use?

UDP 7777 by default, set in network.port in config.json — the same port SA-MP has always used. On our managed hosting it is opened for you.

How many players can join?

max_players goes up to 1000, with 50 as the default. What limits a real roleplay server is usually the gamemode and the database behind it, not the slot cap.

Can I move my existing SA-MP server here?

Yes, and that is the normal case. Upload your gamemode, filterscripts, plugins and your database, and the server comes up as it was.

Do I need a powerful server for SA-MP?

No. Pawn gamemodes are extremely light — far lighter than any modern survival game. Ping, uptime and DDoS protection are what actually decide how the server feels.
