How to make a RSPS server

Four steps from checkout to a live server. You will need a Linux command line — or follow our guide line by line.

  1. Pick a VDS plan

    Size for player count and heap. A new server is comfortable on the entry plan and moves up easily.

  2. Install your JDK

    Connect over SSH and install the Java version your source was written for — older sources often want an older JDK.

  3. Deploy the server

    Upload your build, import the database, set your heap flags and run it under a process manager so it comes back after a reboot.

  4. Open your port and list it

    Allow the game port in your firewall, point your client at the IP and submit the server to the toplists.

Do you provide an RSPS source or client?

What port does an RSPS use?

43594 is the common default, with 5555 and the 43596–43598 range also in use depending on the source. With full root you open whichever your build expects.

How much RAM do I need?

4 GB is a workable floor and 8 GB is comfortable once you have a real population — but what matters more is the heap you give the JVM, which is yours to set.

Which Java version should I use?

Whichever your source was written against. Older sources often need an older JDK, and because you have root you can install exactly that rather than whatever a panel decided.

Can I run the website and store on the same machine?

Yes, and most servers do. The site, vote callbacks and donation store share the VDS and the database with the game server.

Is it DDoS protected?
