Everything your DawnCraft server needs

DawnCraft is a souls-like RPG with a 700 MB server pack, dozens of bosses and its own resource and datapack folders — here is what a server needs.

DawnCraft – Echoes of Legends is a souls-like RPG pack by bstylia14 for Minecraft 1.18.2 on Forge. More than 200 hand-picked mods build a world with dozens of bosses that have their own attack patterns, a custom questing system and reputation. The current release is 2.0.16_hf from November 2025.

The pack page asks for Java 17 (it also accepts 18) and warns that other versions can cause crashes. The official server pack — about 720 MB for 2.0.16_hf — ships with a README, and it depends on two folders you must not remove: Dawncraft_Resources and Dawncraft_Datapack. Delete either and the pack breaks in odd ways.

DawnCraft's own memory advice is at least 6 GB, with 8–12 GB recommended. The weight comes from content: new terrain and encounters are generated as players explore, and a party that splits up generates several regions at once. Heavy boss encounters also mean many entities and effects on screen at the same moment.

DawnCraft servers here run on high-clock CPUs with NVMe SSDs in Frankfurt, protected by multi-Tbps Anti-DDoS and supported 24/7 by our own team.

  • Memory in the recommended range

DawnCraft asks for at least 6 GB and recommends 8–12 GB. Plans cover the whole range, and you can move up without reinstalling.

  • Java 17 for Forge 1.18.2

The pack page warns that the wrong Java can crash it. Servers start on Java 17, which DawnCraft names.

  • Resource and datapack folders kept

Dawncraft_Resources and Dawncraft_Datapack must stay in place. Our installs keep them, and the file manager shows you where they live.

  • NVMe for a 720 MB pack

The server pack alone is around 720 MB, and structure-dense worlds grow quickly. Fast storage keeps saves and chunk loads smooth.

  • CPU for boss fights

Bosses with unique attack patterns spawn many entities and projectiles. High single-core speed keeps fights responsive for the whole party.

  • Anti-DDoS in Frankfurt

Multi-Tbps filtering keeps the adventure online, even when someone would rather you did not reach the next boss.

How to make a DawnCraft server

From zero to online in four steps — no technical experience required.

  1. Pick 6 GB or more

Six gigabytes is DawnCraft's floor; groups that explore apart should start at 8 GB.

  2. Install DawnCraft 2.0.16_hf

Choose DawnCraft in the one-click installer, or upload the official server pack and follow its README.

  3. Run on Java 17

Start Forge 1.18.2 on Java 17, and leave Dawncraft_Resources and Dawncraft_Datapack where they are.

  4. Gather the party

Everyone installs the same DawnCraft release from CurseForge; the hotfix build matters, so match it exactly.

How our protection works

DawnCraft hosting questions, answered

How much RAM does a DawnCraft server need?

DawnCraft asks for at least 6 GB and recommends 8–12 GB. Six gigabytes works for a small party that plays together, 8 GB for five to eight players who explore separately, and 12 GB for larger groups.

Which Minecraft and Java version does DawnCraft use?

DawnCraft – Echoes of Legends runs Minecraft 1.18.2 on Forge. The pack page asks for Java 17 or 18 and warns that other versions can crash it.

Why does a DawnCraft server lag when players spread out?

Each player exploring new ground generates terrain and the content placed in it. A party split in four directions generates four regions at once, which costs far more than four players in one place.

Can I delete the Dawncraft_Resources or Dawncraft_Datapack folders?

No. The pack page says removing either one causes bugs. Keep both folders when you install, update or clean up the server.

Which DawnCraft version should the server run?

The current release is 2.0.16_hf. The hotfix rolled back a component that crashed some worlds on startup, so use it rather than plain 2.0.16.

Do you install DawnCraft for me?

Yes — DawnCraft is a one-click install from the panel on Forge 1.18.2. You can also upload the official server pack with the file manager.

Do players need the modpack installed?

Yes, the exact same DawnCraft release as the server, installed through the CurseForge app.

How much does DawnCraft server hosting cost?

A DawnCraft server runs on our Minecraft plans, which start from €13.00 per month with one-click modpack install and Anti-DDoS included. Bigger packs and more players need more RAM, so choose the plan to match.
